I decided to update my “about me” page, given I’m aiming for a new direction with this blog.
I have a number of varied interests – gaming (xbox, boardgames and Dungeons and Dragons), hockey (field hockey, not ice hockey), crafting (mostly crochet, sewing, and quilting), cooking, and running.
I am a social worker. I’m currently in a management position but I have worked as a case manager with challenging adolescents. Now I manage the case managers. It’s a job that I love and a job that keeps me on my toes.
My boyfriend and I have been eating Vegan since march. I prefer to describe us as plant-based as it avoids the potential negative connotations of the word “Vegan”. I also haven’t gone strict vegan as I still have wool clothing etc, but no leather. Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure I’ve never brought any leather… Anyway, the vegan diet started for health reasons. I might make another page about it.
I am a runner. I try and run three times a week, and I was regularly running about 15-20 kms a week. I’m gradually building it up though and I recently ran my first 10km race, which was awesome. I have also taken up Yoga three times a week and I am loving it so far. I feel stronger and more centered. I’m definitely a morning yoga girl as I feel like I’m perfectly set up to start my day when I’ve practiced.
I live with my boyfriend and our lovely dog Zephyr. I love our little house and the garden full of veggies that he grows for me to cook. Which leads me to my next interest. I love cooking. I love experimenting, and spending hours preparing elaborate meals. I am a “bit of this, bit of that” kind of cook, and am lucky enough to be able to throw together a bunch of pantry/fridge finds and make something delicious. I’m also lucky that neither Gary nor myself are fussy, or have allergies beyond lactose intolerance.
I’m intending to focus this blog on vegan recipes and fitness. Which at the moment mostly means running. So I hope you enjoy reading it!
